Particularly cheap and rustically worn bar weapon with a simple wood handle. The blades manufactured of iron are welded together. With a two-part screwing together cash wood handle.
Bar weapons are well-known to the weapon historians already from the Bronce Age. They were important weapons not only with the barbarian tribes and north men. They were used it use in form amended constantly up to the end of the Middle Ages.
Irrespective of the use of the halberds and quarrel axes in the military service they were equipment parts of night watchmen and at bodyguards. Today, they are still used at the papal Swiss guard.

Double Handed German Sword-flame sword. This sword is a reproduction out of the museum in the city hall of Emden, which has one of the greatest collections of Double handed Swords in Germany. It was used its use at 1500 and also was called lane blower because the fighters could hit thus real lanes to the hostile lines
The blade is made of carbon steel and goes through with a round hinge until handle end where it is screwed together with the final knob. The handle is made of wood. The ricasso is covered with leather.
The army of the mercendarys developed particularly under emperor Maximilian I. and its grandson emperor Karl V. The words: A lot of enemies-A lot of honor were ascribed to the father of the German mercenarys Georg von Frundsberg. He was a man from Mindelheim/Swabia with great bravery and loyalty to his emperor. Emperor Karl V. appointed him imperial councillor. Topmost army sign was the empire assault flag with the black eagle. The most important weapons of the mercenarys were the Katzbalger, the Biedenhänder and the dagger.
