John Lee I - Katana Musashi Ichi by John Lee

The sword includes a certificate proofing the authenticity. It is sharpend and delivered in a decorative wooden, fabric covered collectors box where it may be stored in the included fabric wrapper. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood and covered in real fish skin (same). The saya is made of wood and covered with mirrorfinish lacquer.

The tsuba is made of casted iron in the traditional double ring form which is said to route back to Miyamoto Musashi. Museum originals had been the source for this masterpiece of asian swordcraft.

The hardness is approx. 50 to 52 degrees rockwell. Since the cutting edge thinner, it cools down faster then the thicker sword back so it will be harder. The softer, less hardened sword back guarantees the necessary flexibility of the blade. The blade has a brass collar (habaki) so it won't rattle in the scabbard.

Half-Handmade Samurai Sword

Our blacksmith called this sword as a "Half-Handmade". This means that the forged blade is ground carefully sharp carbon steel on modern machines. The blade surface is polished by hand and has a fine structure. The back of the blade with 7 mm thickness corresponds to old originals. The Rockwell hardness of the blade is about 50 degrees. The sword has a very handy and long handle, which is made of wood, as well as the traditional applied by hand winding. A strong and on both sides elaborately decorated tsuba and scabbard paint from wood (high gloss finishes) complete this sword. The sword is not suitable for cutting tests. The blade is ground, suitable for Kata exercises.

John Lee Shirasaya Katana black by John Lee

As Shirasaya refers to a special sword mount, which was formerly used for gentle storage of the blade. Especially in times of peace, the blades were kept therein for optimum protection. The unpainted Magnolia wood absorbs the moisture inside the vagina on, it leads to the outside and thus protects the blade from rust.

Many Shirasaya were provided with a "Sayagaki", an inscription, which gave information about smith, origin and classification. On the streets of Japan, the inconspicuous outfit was no handle and hilt especially towards the end of the 19th century use.

At that time, the guiding Samurai swords was prohibited by the Emperor. The Shirasaya mount, which looked very similar to a wooden sword and wooden stick, was a clever way yet unnoticed to carry the sword.

- Sword in shinogi-zukuri style with groove (Bo-Hi), hand forged from 1045 carbon steel
- The blade is sharpened with incorporated Hamon-line for a very authentic look.

John Lee Musashi Kazara Katana by John Lee

Beginning of the 18th century were the two princes Kamei Korechika and Asano Naganori from Shogun commissioned to prepare a reception ceremony for the envoys of the emperor.

Dependence were the two on the corrupt ceremony champion Kira Kozuke who should teach in terms of courtly etiquette. This expected however this generous gifts and offerings. Unlike Kamei Asano refused this, whereupon he was from the ceremony master particularly ill-informed, insulted and provoked.

After some time of Erduldens Asano finally burst the collar and he attacked Kira with his knife. Although he was injured this only slightly, stood on this offense the death penalty and Asano committed seppuku, the ritual suicide.

Under Asano's followers there were 47 Samurai, which were by the death Ronin (masterless samurai). Although they knew that the blood revenge would mean the own death, she devised a plan to the ceremony master to murder. After months of preparation did you manage to finally break into Kira's property to execute him and then remove him on the head.

After they had laid his head down on Asano's grave, the Ronin revealed. Since they had avenged their master and thus acted within the code of honor of the samurai, the shogun allowed to commit suicide by seppuku, which they were not executed as ordinary criminals. This event is an outstanding example of the unconditional loyalty and fidelity of the samurai against their Lord.

The John Lee 47 Ronin Katana is designed to reflect the strength and loyalty of the masterless samurai.

Yushu-Katana by Citadel

Weight (without scabbard) 1050 g. Good swords there are many, perfection, however rare. Samurai swords made by Citadel among the best available to buy -next a real Nihonto- on the market. Perfection without "if" and "but" down to the smallest detail. Each sword is completely made by hand.
Each participating artisans is a master of his craft. The production of such a work of art takes up to three months and makes each piece unique.
Many samurai swords from mass production, only one strip Same (ray skin) is often glued to each page. In the Citadel complete handle is surrounded by the highest quality ray skin. The winding handle (Ito), made from the finest Japanese silk, is tight in Katate Maki - style attached. The strands of the nodes intersect it mutually. Underlaid is the winding (Tsuka Maki) of traditional, folded paper triangles, called Hishigami. The flat-shaped handle (Tsuka) was adjusted 100% to the Angel. A bamboo pen (Mekugi) holds handle and Angel together. As with the historical originals this is conical.
Butt end (Kashira) and grip ferrule (fuchi) are made of iron, covered with simple, but elegant, high-gloss black lacquer. Also iron is the tsuba, which was not cast, but made by hand. It shows a Japanese temple with Cherry blossom (Sakura no Hana) in the foreground. Ornamental rate (Menuki) with silver plated bronze offer a nice contrast to the dark winding handle (Tsuka-Maki) and underline the graceful picture.
Both the handle (Tsuka), as well as the vagina (Saya) Jakwood dried was used. In addition to the excellent strength properties, it is also because of its low acid fraction as starting material because it does not damage the blade. Was painted the vagina in glossy black, the so-called Kuroro style. Vaginal opening (Koiguchi), eye (kurigata) and vaginal degree (Kojiri) are made of water buffalo horn and were adapted in most elaborate handwork. The front part of the sheath (saya) is also surrounded by Roche skin. This was sanded and painted over later. The result is a smooth surface with a unique look. The scabbard (saya) is made individually for each blade individually and ensures absolute fit. With light pressure allows the blade detached from the vagina, but it certainly holds otherwise.
The blade is made of steel mono (1075er carbon steel, not stainless), but hardened differentiated. Under traditional Lehmbestrich this was differentiated to 60 HRC on the edge and about 40 HRC hardened at the back of the blade. Directly onto the blade, the blade collar (habaki) was forged silver-plated copper. Only in this way is possible the fuller play to the Tsuba and to guarantee a perfect fit. Through the skills of the polisher the masterful work of the blacksmith comes fully to bear. A mirror-polished surface, as well as a clearly recognizable temper line (hamon) are the result.
As each sword is unique, dimensions and weight may vary. Delivery without sword stand

is mono steel (1075er carbon), but hardened differentiated:
Citadel Katana Yushu
